One-Year Foundation Course in Open Dialogue
Enrolment Agreement and Engagement Guidelines
Please read the following carefully to ensure you know your rights and expectations under the One-Year Foundation Course in Open Dialogue (OYFC-OD). Acceptance of these rights and expectations is by submitting the form below.
Engagement Guidelines
The Open Dialogue Centre is committed to creating a collaborative, respectful, and supportive learning environment. The OYFC-OD engagement guidelines are designed to support the creation of a community where everyone can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
Respect and Inclusivity: It is expected that trainees are mindful of each other’s needs and respectful of people’s different belief systems. This means creating a safe space for everyone’s voice and treating fellow trainees and tutors with respect. The goal is to foster an inclusive, welcoming environment where all participants and facilitators feel valued and free from harassment, bullying, or discrimination. This will mean we all recognise and value different viewpoints, actively participating in collaborative learning, and engaging in respectful dialogue.
Commitment to Learning and Active Engagement: OYFC-OD requires full participation in all learning events. This means actively contributing ideas, sharing resources, and remaining committed throughout the collaborative process. Trainees are asked to communicate their views, seek additional advice on their progress, and respond to requests for feedback, while remembering that learning is dependent on everyone’s contributions, so active engagement is crucial.
Professional Conduct and Boundaries: Trainees should have reasonable expectations of themselves and others, working together professionally and respectfully. It is important that trainees remain mindful of other’s limitations and boundaries. This professional approach extends to maintaining confidentiality – creating a safe space where people can share openly, with the understanding that everything shared in the group remains within the group.
The OYFC-OD is designed as a cohesive unit, with each day building upon the previous one. To fully benefit and contribute to the group learning experience, we kindly ask that trainees plan to stay until the scheduled end time each day and for the entire duration of the training week.
If you anticipate being late or are unable to attend a session, please notify the tutors as soon as possible.
To ensure a smooth learning process and effective feedback, we ask that you aim to submit coursework by the indicated deadlines. We understand that life can sometimes present unexpected challenges, so please communicate with the tutors if you need to explore alternative arrangements.
As part of this course, a trainee mailing list will be compiled for the purpose of facilitating communication and resource sharing. Please inform your course tutors if you wish to opt out of having your email address included.
The OYFC-OD learning environment is a collective responsibility, where each trainee is encouraged to actively contribute and provide feedback.
